Since the summer of 2001, Smerins Anti Social Club have been setting dance-floors ablaze with their intoxicating musical brew. The seven members pour out an eclectic blend of influences incorporating funk, ska, jazz, dub, rock, drum n bass, and latin. Right from their inception as resident band for Future World Fusion’s ever popular events, the Anti Social Club were winning over crowds across the south coast, including frequently sold out events at Southampton’s Talking Heads and the Soul Cellar. Before long the intrepid group, ever in search of adventure, were making forays into the night spots of London (Gaz’s Rockin’ Blues, the Rhythm Factory) and Cardiff (the Toucan Club), where their awesome live displays conquered the ears and feet of all who dared venture on to the dance-floors.

News had soon filtered down into the west of England and the band now have two successful west country tours under their belt, including their month-long jaunt of summer 2003, which included slots at the Shambala Festival and the Surfers Against Sewage Summer Ball. The outing saw the band playing alongside the likes of the Quantic Soul Orchestra, UK Players, The Egg, Babyhead and Nucleus Roots as well as proving further the diversity of their appeal by playing with outrageous hard-rockers The Darkness in the week their album went to number one. The hardworking septet had also found time to complete their first recording, a self-released four track EP, which sold like very hot cakes indeed at the venues that they conquered along the way.

In 2004 SASC have continued their live assault which has so far included no less than four slots at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, as well as acclaimed shows at the Small World Solar Festival, the Larmer Tree Festival and the Sheep Music Festival.
